The girl was on her way to school in the Hunslet area of Leeds on the morning of April 23 when a man dragged her and pulled her into a secluded wooded area (read here). She managed to fight him off then raised alarm.
Police then released a video of a man running over a nearby park, which was filmed by a woman who witnessed the incident.
West Yorkshire Police announced this morning that they have arrested an 18-year-old man, who is currently being questioned.
A police spokesman said today: "Detectives investigating the abduction of a 12-year-old girl in Leeds have arrested a man.
"The 18-year-old, from Leeds, was arrested yesterday in connection with the incident in Old Run Road, Hunslet, on Tuesday, April 23.
"He remains in custody and enquiries are ongoing. His arrest follows a public appeal for information."
